Dr. Baumgartner joined Inotek in June of 2007 as Chief Medical Officer. In this role, he is responsible for all aspects of clinical development and medicals affairs.

Dr. Baumgartner is a Pulmonary and Critical Care physician with extensive background in pharmaceutical/biotechnology development. Most recently he served as VP of Clinical Research and Therapeutic Area Head for Respiratory and Immunology at Sepracor Inc. where he led the development and filing of multiple NDAs, including two approved by the FDA after the first cycle of review. Prior to joining Sepracor, Dr. Baumgartner was Director of Clinical Research at Merck Research Laboratories, Rahway, NJ, working with both early and late stage assets.

Dr. Baumgartner completed his training in Internal Medicine at the University of Michigan Hospitals and his Pulmonary and Critical Care training at the Johns Hopkins University. Prior to joining Merck he also completed several years of post-doctoral work in basic pulmonary research in the Laboratory of Molecular Immunology at the National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, Maryland.
